OUR PRESENTERS

Jimmy Meeks is a retired police officer, having served 35 years in law enforcement. Jimmy has also been a minister for 50 years.

As an officer, he served as a hostage negotiator, field training officer, school resource officer, detective, supervisor, and crime prevention officer. He accumulated over 4500 hours of TCOLE training. He has also been a certified crime prevention specialist.

Jimmy was pastor of a church in the Ft. Worth, Texas area for over 11 years, while also serving as a police officer. He has a B.A. in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Certificate of Ministry from Emmaus Road Ministry School. He has conducted over 400 seminars for churches since 2009, at which thousands of churches have been represented. It has been said of his presentation, "...there has never been a stronger call to action..."

Jimmy and his wife of 46 years, Julie, were married at the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield, Texas: the sight of the June 22, 1980 massacre that killed 5 worshipers and injured 10.

Jimmy was also a production assistant in the award-winning docudrama Faith Under Fire, based on the tragedy at First Baptist Church in Daingerfield, Texas.

 

Michael Howell retired from law enforcement after completing a 25-year police career in Kansas. He is the recipient of multiple gold Valor awards for Bravery following a series of officer-involved shootings both in an on-duty and off-duty status. Michael was off-duty when he encountered an active killer inside of a big-box store in Lenexa, Kansas in 2017.

Michael was able to effectively neutralize the armed attacker, saving the lives of the many innocent lives inside the store. Michael retired as a Major in the US Army Reserve after a 28-year career as a commissioned officer following multiple deployments from 2001 through 2009.

Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Park University, a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Operations from Webster University, a Master of Arts in Management from Baker University, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Criminal Justice in Leadership from Liberty University. Michael is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College. Michael was the 2018 Kansas City Metro Chiefs and Sheriff Association Officer of the Year in 2018.

He travels the country as he conducts seminars on Active Killer survival, sharing the lessons learned from his engagement with the active killer in 2017. He is currently writing his book, “Ten Minutes to Contact!” that examine not only his off-duty response to an active killer, but the background of the active killer problem facing Americas communities today.
